So what’s the big deal? Well, Moisés Arias is 20-years-old and Willow is only 13 and they are both relaxing on the same bed. The juxtaposition of a tween with a shirtless young man has some calling the image ‘perverted’ online. Arias has removed the image from his Instagram account, but the internet has this snapshot making its rounds.
We have to remember that Willow Smith has been in the public eye her entire life and first gained notoriety for her vocal talents at age 11. She is in a completely different environment than most children her age and she’s been forced to grow up quickly. Should she be more careful with her image? Probably. We live in an age when almost every facet of your life can be put on public display.
Moisés (aka Rico) did the right thing by taking the image down from his Instagram account. (He has yet to take it down from Tumblr.) Is he a creep? Nah. The photo is 100% innocent, but he may want to watch the whole shirtless-in-bed-with-a-minor thing moving forward. You live, you learn.
Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith have a pretty hands-off approach to parenting their kids. Will shared his philosophy with Metro last year, “The way that we deal with our kids is, they are responsible for their lives. Our concept is, as young as possible, give them as much control over their lives as possible and the concept of punishment, our experience has been—it has a little too much of a negative quality.”
