The BEST news about this Star Wars reboot? Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, and Carrie Fisher reprise their classic roles as Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, and Princess Leia!!! The brilliant and awesomely nerdy J.J. Abrams is set to direct! Not to be overlooked but the original Chewbacca, C-3PO, and R2-D2 will return to their roles as well! The film will be set 30 years from where the iconic series left off. After the disaster that was the 1999-2005 Star Wars prequel trilogy (Episodes I, II and III), let’s hope this sequel series doesn’t disappoint true fans.
New cast members including John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Max von Sydow, and Domhnall Gleeson have also been announced. No word on which characters will be covered. You may recognize Adam Driver from ‘Girls.’ He is one heck of an actor and will be interesting to see on the big screen. Fun note, Gleeson played Bill Weasley in both Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows films.
Even better, Andy Serkis aka Gollum from the Lord of the Rings films has also been added to the cast. Can’t wait to see if they allow him screen time or if he will take on the form of an amazing alien creature.
So far only two female roles have been announced, but there is rumor of at least one more female lead role waiting to be filled.
