Remembering L’Wren Scott Through Her Work

Noted fashion designer L’Wren Scott passed away on Monday, March 17 in her Manhattan apartment of an apparent suicide. She was only 49-years-old. While we'll never fully understand her actions, we can reflect on her lifetime achievements.

L’Wren Scott was known for dressing Hollywood’s elite and had been in a relationship with rocker Mick Jagger since 2001. After news broke of her shocking death, the Rolling Stones have called off their tour of Australia and New Zealand. A spokesman for Jagger said the singer was completely shocked and devastated by the sudden loss.

Mick Jagger posted this touching message on his website and Facebook page:

I am still struggling to understand how my lover and best friend could end her life in this tragic way.

We spent many wonderful years together and had made a great life for ourselves.

She had great presence and her talent was much admired, not least by me.

I have been touched by the tributes that people have paid to her, and also the personal messages of support that I have received.

The former model’s designs were much loved by celebrities and her works were often spotted on the red carpet on the likes of Madonna, Oprah and the First Lady. Scott had also recently collaborated with Banana Republic on a special holiday collection.

“I don’t really jump on anything unless I believe it will deliver the quality and standards I stay true to. It is a very fun, happy collection and I think it is classic and timeless and elegant,” she said of her collection to Vanity Fair at its launch last year.
