Over three decades have passed since Princess Diana wowed the world with her fairy tale wedding day look.

What is the fate of Princess Diana’s lovely wedding gown?

Princess Diana’s memorable ivory bridal gown worn in her 1981 wedding to Prince Charles will become the property of Prince William and Prince Harry on September 15th.  In accordance with her will, Princess Diana stipulated that her wedding gown be given to her sons upon the 30th birthday of Prince Harry. Since her tragic death 17 years ago, Princess Di’s dress has been on display in the museum at Althorp on the Spencer’s family estate located in Northampton.

The silk-and-taffeta lace gown with a 25 ft. train and 10,000 pearls was created by David and Elizabeth Emanuel. The gown became the pinnacle of fashion for its time.  Currently, it has been removed from Althorp and will most likely be returned to London where it will be placed on display in one of the royal palaces. Londoners will delight in the return this gown worn by their cherished “People’s Princess”.  It will no doubt be kept in a place of honor for the viewing of all her admirers.  Rest in peace Princess Diana.
