Royal hopefuls rejoice- Your dreams of marrying into the royal family are alive and well! According to several gossip websites, the 29 year old prince and fourth-in-line to the throne, Harry has ended his two year relationship with 25-year-old Cressida Bonas.
The pair had just made their first official public appearance together last month, setting off a wild frenzy of rumors that there would be another royal wedding in the near future. The pair looked cozy as they hugged and kissed at a charity event at London’s Wembley Arena.
Cressida was introduced to Harry by his cousin, Princess Eugenie. Cressida is the daughter of wealthy socialite Lady Mary-Gaye Georgina Lorna Curzon. (She once was a love interest of Prince Charles. Small world.)
According to anonymous source, Cressida was “too needy.” “It just wasn’t working out,” the source told People Magazine.
This seems to contradict Cressida’s longstanding discomfort with the media frenzy and intrusion into her personal life that dating a royal had brought. She had recently completed a one-year course in contemporary dance at the Trinity Laban Conservatoire in London. She was also pursuing a career in marketing.
Harry had hinted at her discomfort previously, questioning who would be able to handle dating such a high profile boyfriend. The couple are hoping that the split will allow Cressida to pursue her own career and interests without the media attention.
A source told CNN that they would remain “the best of friends.”
“It’s very, very sad that they have decided to split,” the source said. “It’s very amicable but they have decided to go their separate ways.”
Harry’s older brother, William, and now-wife Kate Middleton also split up in 2007, prompting speculation that there could be a reconciliation in the future. This, however, has not stopped the barrage of social media proposals for Prince Harry.
