Prince George may have just turned one, but he has been making headlines and causing a flurry of fans wherever he goes. The chubby-cheeked toddler is marking his first birthday this week, and we can’t stop awing over the photos.
The Royal Family released two official photos on Monday to celebrate the occasion, snapshots taken from when the royal toddler visited the Sensational Butterflies exhibition at the Natural History Museum of London.
Prince George, who in his one year has already accomplished a trip to Australia and New Zealand and has recently taken his first steps, looks cute as a button in his blue and white striped overalls as he enjoys an afternoon at the museum with his royal parents on July 2.
The extended Royal Family began celebrations with a family birthday party this week, with Kate’s parents and two siblings, Pippa and James, Prince Harry, and Zara Phillips, the Queen’s granddaughter and one of George’s godparents, arriving for the bash.
Kate Middleton was spotted making a visit to the Queen’s residence at Buckingham Palace today, where “Happy Birthday” was played outside the Palace gates in celebration. Later, Queen Elizabeth II traveled to Kensington Palace for the party.
Also seen arriving for the party were both of Prince George’s godparents: Emilia D’Erlanger, Kate’s friend from school and Jamie Lowther Pinkerton, a private secretary to Kate and William.
Prince Charles and Camilla, The Duchess of Cornwall are currently vacationing in Scotland.
The world has watched Prince George grow up, from his first official portrait, to his christening surrounded by family, to his first official overseas trip.
The Royal Family released a statement in gratitude:
“We would like to take this opportunity on George’s first birthday to thank everyone over the last year, wherever we have met them, both at home and overseas, for their warm and generous good wishes to George and our family.”
