The theft was reported at the 8,000-square foot Mulholland Park mansion on Monday that was recently put on the market for almost $5.5 million. Kardashian and Odom listed the house last month after Kardashian filed for divorce in December.
Odom, a former forward for the Lakers and Clippers, was recently sentenced to three years of probation and alcohol abuse treatment when he pleaded no contest to a DUI charge. During his NBA career, Odom had been suspended multiple times for violating the NBA’s anti-drug policy and has been rumored to still be using.
Several sources are reporting that the break-in is tied to outstanding money Odom owes to his drug dealers- debts that he failed to settle before leaving to play basketball in Spain last month.
Odom is rumored to owe more than $40,000, plus an additional $15,000. He allegedly would assure the dealers that he had the cash and that he would pay them later but never did. Odom allegedly has received threatening text messages from the dealers, warning that they would break in to the home.
Although the investigation at the home revealed no signs of forced entry, sources allege that the dealers are connected to someone employed by the family and may have had lawful entry to the home.
