Last week, pop singer and teen idol Justin Bieber made a surprise appearance at the Brooklyn Barclays Center where the Fashion Rocks event was being held. He appeared on stage alongside model Lara Stone to introduce British singer Rita Ora.
As a few in the crowd began to boo and heckle him, Bieber turned to Lara Stone and said “I actually don’t feel comfortable unless I’m in my Calvins.” He then proceeded to strip down to his underwear, revealing the iconic Calvin Klein briefs. Stone managed to watch awkwardly as she attempted to play along.
The crowd, however, was not pleased with the performance. There were audible fan screams but the booing was much louder.
“Bieber was loudly booed right before and during the process of taking off his clothes,” the Washington Post reported.
The stunt seems to have been a part of a publicity ploy by Calvin Klein. Ryan Seacrest, who was hosting the event, announced “To introduce our next performance which features the latest looks from Calvin Klein jeans and underwear, we have two of his very close friends. Let’s hear it for supermodel Lara Stone and Justin Beiber” as the pair left the stage.
While it was not well-received by the crowd, Bieber later tweeted a joking tweet about the incident, making light of the situation.
“Grandma always said kill ‘em with kindness, and then stirp on live national tv. Lol,” he tweeted.
It wasn’t all bad news for Beiber this week, however, as he received good news about two pending criminal charges. Prosecutors dropped assault charges related to an incident involving a Toronto limousine driver, and Bieber got closure on his Miami charges, as he pleaded guilty to careless driving and resisting arrest.
“I hope he that he realizes that his actions not only lead to consequences that affect him but they lead to consequences that affect others that are looking up to him as a role model,” Miami-Dade County Judge William Atfield said at a hearing.
Perhaps in celebration, Bieber was spotted attending the Floyd Mayweather boxing match in Las Vegas on Saturday night. Selena Gomez was in attendance as well, and the pair was seen taking a romantic stroll around the Hard Rock Hotel.
Gomez sported a bikini top and high-waisted denim shorts in the desert heat, while Bieber was once again seen in the Calvin Klein underwear with low-slung shorts over.
Bieber shared several shots of him and Gomez on Saturday night, as well as several with Mayweather backstage at the MGM Grand Garden Arena.
