Alright, we’re already having to deal with the reality of Ben Affleck as Batman. (Please don’t let him screw this up. I don’t think the world can take another version of 2003’s ‘Daredevil.’) Gal Gadot is Wonder Woman, which is a good and unexpected choice. Amy Adams and Henry Cavill are Lois Lane and Superman. In a strange move, Warner Bros. has selected ‘Zombieland’ actor Jesse Eisenberg to play the cunning villain Lex Luthor and ‘The Borgias’ actor Jeremy Irons will play Batman’s butler/ mentor Alfred.
Okay, Jeremy Irons is very good at mumbling around in the dark… so the Batcave may be perfect for him. I get it. I’m having a difficult time wrapping my head around Jesse Eisenberg as Lex. He seems too baby-faced to be a twisted and evil business magnate. 30-year-old Jesse is a talented actor and he could definitely capture Lex’s power-hungry personality, but he comes off as younger than his actual age. I saw a Joaquin Phoenix, Liev Schreiber, Sean Penn, Stephen Moyer, or a Leonardo DiCaprio-type actor in this role. Someone older with more on-screen gravity and a naturally harder edge.
The film is being directed by Zach Snyder and should be released in 2016. Guess we will have to wait of the outcome of these casting choices.
