The 35-year-old actress and the 33-year-old actor are currently starring in the boxing film Southpaw together. While we don’t doubt the duo will have amazing chemistry on the big screen, it’s their budding off-the-clock romance that we’re excited about.
The pair was spotted in New York City on Saturday, dining at Lugo Caffe, before they headed to Madison Square Garden to take in the boxing match between Miguel Cotto and Sergio Martinez, presumably research for their film.
Southpaw follows a middle-weight boxing champion whose world comes crashing down following a tragedy. It has yet to be given a release date.
A source told the New York Post’s Page Six: “They arrived together and sat next to each other. They were in deep conversation. They stayed for an hour and looked happy and very friendly.”
McAdams looked stunning for her Madison Square Garden appearance, sporting a sassy, sequined LBD and classic stilettos while Gyllenhaal was casual cool in a button down and jeans.
The NYC outing comes after last week’s sighting in Pittsburgh, where the pair dined together at Meat and Potatoes. They were in town, along with Lupita Nyong’o and Forest Whitaker, for filming.
An Instagram user caught this seemingly intimate dinner date between the two, sparking a bevy of Internet rumors. Close friends of the two, however, insist that they are merely “friendly co-stars” who are busy researching their roles.
Gyllenhaal recently split from his longtime model girlfriend Alyssa Miller in December. Their have been several rumors since of the pair getting back together but it has never been confirmed. Previously, Gyllenhaal has been linked to other Hollywood starlets, including Reese Witherspoon, Kirsten Dunst and Taylor Swift.
Besides his current film projects, Gyllenhaal is also set to make his Broadway debut in Constellations, which tells the story of two strangers who continue to meet under strange circumstances in parallel universes according to string theory. Opening night is slated for January 13, 2015.
McAdams split from her Midnight in Paris co-star Michael Sheen last year and was most recently linked to Canadian music manager Patrick Sambrook.
