Robert Downing Jr.’s 20 year old son Indio, was arrested Sunday, June 29th for drug possession. A West Hollywood sheriff’s deputy pulled over the car in which Indio was a passenger because he (Indio) appeared to be using drug paraphernalia to take illegal drugs. Sure enough, the deputy discovered Indio in possession of drug paraphernalia and a controlled substance appearing to be cocaine. Indio’s bail was set at 10,000 and he was released Sunday evening.
Indio’s “Ironman” father, Robert Downey Jr., well known for his own battle with drug addiction, said in a statement to US Weekly, “Unfortunately there’s a genetic component to addiction and Indio has likely inherited it.” Having successfully dealt with his own demons, Robert Downey Jr. is very supportive and understanding of his son’s issues. He also states, “There is a lot of family support and understanding, and we’re all determined to rally behind him and help him become the man he’s capable of being.”
Expressing appreciation to the West Hollywood Sheriff’s department for intervening, Indio’s family seems ready to assist him throughout his recovery. Best wishes to Indio and his family.
