Ramis left an undeniable stamp on pop culture due to his comedic writings which morphed into timeless classics such as National Lampoon’s Animal House, Meatballs, Caddyshack, Ghostbusters, and Groundhog Day. Not only did he join forces with comedy stars such as Bill Murray and Dan Aykroyd behind the scenes, he also stepped in front of the camera. Harold Ramis’ film credits include Ghostbusters (Dr. Egon Spengler), Groundhog Day (Neurologist), As Good As It Gets (Dr. Martin Bettes), and Knocked Up (Ben Stone’s Father). He also directed major hits such as National Lampoon’s Vacation, Caddyshack, Groundhog Day, and Multiplicity.
He is survived by wife Erica Mann Ramis and adult children Julian, Daniel and Violet. Rest in peace, Harold, and thank you for sharing your genius with all of us! You will be truly missed.
