At a recent charity event, George Clooney couldn’t help but gush about some of the details of his upcoming wedding. While accepting a humanitarian award at the Celebrity Fight Night in Tuscany, Italy recently, Clooney revealed the location.
“I met my lovely bride-to-be here in Italy, whom I will be marrying, in a couple of weeks, in Venice, of all places,” he said.
The event was a fundraiser for the Andrea Bocelli Foundation and the Muhammad Ali Parkinson Center.
“I would just like to say to my bride to be, Amal, that I love you very much and I can’t wait to be your husband,” Clooney said in his speech.
Later in the week, Clooney’s business partner and good friend Rande Gerber was spotted loading 100 cases of tequila onto a jet. Gerber is the founder of Casamigos Tequila and the brand’s award-winning Blanco, Reposado and Anejo varieties were among the cases. The jet was headed from California to Italy.
Gerber and his wife, model Cindy Crawford, are often spotted with Clooney and Alamuddin. The group was spotted in Los Cabos, Mexico during the holidays last year. Gerber and Crawford are sure to be in attendance at the star-studded Italian wedding.
Clooney is reported to be wearing Giorgio Armani for the big day. The designer recently confirmed at Milan Fashion Week that he is dressing Clooney. “George has chosen and been fitted for an Armani suit for his wedding,” Armani said.
Almauddin is rumored to be wearing Oscar de la Renta, although she has also been spotted at Alexander McQueen headquarters. The former mayor of Rome, Walter Veltroni, is also rumored to be officiating the ceremony.
It has been reported that the ceremony will take place at the Ca’ Farsetti palace, a 13th century estate that faces the Canal Grange.
Clooney is keeping busy ahead of the wedding, recently filming a secret guest appearance on Downton Abbey. He will appear in a Christmas special in December.
The cast were reportedly star struck when Clooney was on set, “falling about themselves with excitement.”
“The cast were falling about themselves with excitement and lining up to have their photos taken with George,” an insider told The Sun. “The girls were mad keen to speak to him. He was full of jokes and had them all in stitches.”
“Downton is now a global phenomenon and they are used to red carpet events with Hollywood A-listers. But this was George acting alongside them.”
The appearance, however, was such a secret that not even the cast knew that it was happening for sure.
“It was amazing. We didn’t know if it would actually happen until he turned up,” said Laura Carmichael, who plays Lady Edith Crawley. “We were filming and then heard, ‘He’s here! He’s here! He’s arrived!’”
