After a week of new troubles, including a fake engagement and fake allegations against her parents, actress and former child star Amanda Bynes was duped by her family into entering a Pasadena treatment center under an involuntary psychiatric hold.

When Amanda Bynes announced via Twitter last week that she was engaged to be married, the world was both confused and hoping for Amanda to experience some happiness in her life.

“I am getting married and my boyfriend and I are going to be on the cover of People magazine,” she tweeted.

In an (wildly rambling) interview with InTouch magazine, also spoke about her supposed upcoming engagement.

“I am very needy for friendship and I hate men,” she said. “I want to f*** them, but I can now say I’m engaged.

“I want to be married and I want to be away from people.”

She also added that she is looking forward to starting a family. “I want boys for sure. However many I can pop out,” she told the magazine.

The only problem? The 19-year-old aspiring actor Caleb Pusey who Bynes claimed to be engaged to says that they have never even dated. While the Costa Mesa, CA resident admits that he and Bynes met in rehab last year and became friends, he was as shocked as anyone at the engagement news. They have not spoken in months, he says.

Also this week, Bynes took to her Twitter account to make some serious allegations against her parents. She claimed that her father had been sexually, verbally and physically abusive when she was younger.

In response to the allegations, Lynn Bynes, Amanda’s mother, refuted the claims in a statement to People through her attorney. She pointed to Amanda’s “mental state” that led to the charges “that have no basis in reality.”

Bynes’ siblings, Jillian O’Keefe and Tommy Bynes, also quickly rushed to their father’s defense in a separate statement to People.

“We are disturbed beyond words that Amanda would come up with such a fabrication as a way to avoid getting much needed help or treatment,” they said.

“We have the most wonderful parents who have ever lived and are pained by Amanda’s behavior. We absolutely give our full unconditional love and support to our wonderful parents.”

She subsequently deleted the tweets and blamed a microchip in her brain for making the allegations.

“My dad never did any of those things The microchip in my brain made me say those things but he’s the one that ordered them to microchip me,” she tweeted.

“When she is in one of these states, her anger and frustration is directed towards her father,” a source told People magazine.

The microchip comment made have played a large role in her parents’ decision to put the actress into a mental facility under an involuntary psychiatric hold.

When Bynes flew from New York to LA on Friday, she believed that she was being chauffeured to her attorney’s office. She even told reporters at the airport that she was on her way to draw up a lawsuit against her parents. Instead, she was taken to the treatment facility, which resembles an office park. There she was met by her parents’ attorney.

“In a perfect world, one would be honest about getting a person into a psychiatric hospital, but from her past behavior we have seen that Amanda Bynes avoid psychiatric hospitals at all cost because she doesn’t believe that she’s sick,” a psychiatrist who has followed Bynes’ case told CNN.

According to the Los Angeles County Superior Court, patients under an involuntary psychiatric hold must demonstrate “having auditory hallucinations” or they are “responding to internal stimuli.”

Bynes will be held for 72 hours. Unless she volunteers to remain in treatment, doctors at the facility would need to plead their case to a judge in order to keep her there longer.

“They can’t just make up evidence. It has to be true and observable. The hearing is not just a rubber stamp,” an attorney told CNN about the situation.

It will be up to Bynes whether her parents are allowed at the hearing.

After a series of episodes in 2013, Bynes seemed to be on the right track. However, she recently began to spiral again. She was arrested for a DUI and accused of shoplifting from a New York store this past month.

“They hope Amanda’s situation will get under control,” a source told People of Bynes’ parents. “They love their daughter very much.”
