Taylor Swift Obtains Restraining Order Against Alleged Stalker

Since January 2011, 33-year-old Timothy Sweet has sent Swift at least 735 messages via Twitter, claiming to be married to her and threatening to kill anyone who gets in his way.

The restraining order, which expires March 25, means Sweet must stay 100 yards away from Swift, her brother, mother and father and cannot contact her by social media, email, text message or any other electronic means.

According to the court documents, Swift told the judge that Sweet is “seriously alarming and harassing and is extremely distressing to me and my family.” She added that she would not like to have any contact with Sweet.

Swift is not the only recipient of Sweet’s strange and sometimes concerning messages. His Twitter profile shows that he has also sent messages to Katy Perry following her divorce, offered to work for Mark Wahlberg, and offered words of encouragement to Justin Beiber.
