Kate and husband Prince William sent over some hot drinks and pastries for breakfast after seeing pictures of them in their makeshift camp across the road from the private Lindo Wing of St. Mary's Hospital.
When you get a gift from the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge you take notice. Maria Scott, 49, told PEOPLE that two men came with two white boxes tied up in pink ribbons and 10 cups of coffee. “They knocked on the tent and said, ‘Good morning, we have a present from the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge,’ ” she said.
The boxes contained breakfast pastries for the group of fans that have been waiting for the royal arrival of Will and Kate’s second child.
A palace source confirmed the gift to PEOPLE: “They saw they had been camped out and wanted to send over some breakfast.”
John Loughrey, 60, who’s been at the hospital since April 16, said, “We’re really touched – we thank them with all our hearts.”
The royal baby craze is in full effect and Prince William and Kate Middleton fueled the festivities when they surprised superfans with breakfast on Tuesday. But did they also leave a clue as to the sex of their second child? Take note that the boxes were wrapped with PINK ribbons. We can only hope!
Their oldest child, Prince George, will turn two on July 22, just a few months after their second child’s due date.
