Kristen Stewart's new movie Camp X-Ray is set in Guantanamo Bay years after 9-11 and will be released on October 17th. Stewart's role as a young soldier has earned her rave reviews.
I may have to rethink my opinion of Kristen Stewart. I’ll admit, I never followed the Twilight series that rocketed her to fame, and I pretty much wrote her off as a serious actress. But, after seeing the trailer for Camp X-Ray, Kirsten may have earned the right to be considered an honest-to-goodness movie actress. No more sparkly vamps for this girl…
Camp X-Ray debuted in Sundance earlier this year and is scheduled to be released in theaters on October 17th. The drama is set at Guantanamo Bay several years after the September 11th attack on the World Trade Center in New York City. Stewart plays Amy Cole, a young soldier serving at the infamous detention center. The movie focuses on the relationship between Cole and Ali, played by Payman Maadi. After being detained for 8 years, Ali continues to claim he’s innocent. Stewart’s character is told not to let detainees know anything about her personal life in order to deter any emotional attachments. Despite the warnings, Cole and Ali form a bond. You’ll have to wait for the movie to find out what happens between them.
