Harry Styles of the British pop group One Direction, turned 20 and has been compared to a young Mick Jagger!
It’s refreshing to read about a twenty year old that seems to have his stuff together. The youngest member of One Direction, Harry Styles, turned 20 on February 1st. Okay, so he’s had over 50 tattoos within the past two years. This one obsession couldn’t be considered a major character flaw. Harry admits, “There are some tattoos my friends have done… and some that are just awful.” His preoccupation with body art began when he turned 18 years old. His first inking was an outline of a star added to the inside of his left arm. Later, he added an “A” for his mother Anne. Next, he honored his big sister Gemma, by having her name, in Hebrew, tattooed on his left shoulder. Brave Harry must have a high threshold for pain; he continues adding tats, large and small, with no end in sight. He states, “Anyone who says tattoos don’t hurt, is a liar!” You the man, Harry!!
Despite his seemingly wild tattooed self, Harry, born Harry Edward Styles in Bromsgrove, West Midlands, England on February 1st, 1994, considers himself relatively old fashioned. Although Harry’s parents divorced when he was 7 years old, he maintains a good relationship with his father, Des Styles, and lives with his mother, Anne, and older sister Gemma. He states, “I’m quite old-fashioned. I like going out to dinner. You have the chance to talk to somebody and get to know them better.” What a nice sentiment.
Harry definitely has sex appeal and has been compared to a young Mick Jagger. Both Brits ooze sexiness with sly grins and unforgettable lips. Who couldn’t link the two steamy hunks? Notably, Mick Jagger has been ranked 4th sexiest artist in music history by VH1’s “The Greatest: 100 Sexiest Artists” (2002). On a smaller scale, Harry Styles is ranked 6th in Glamour’s list of “50 Sexiest Men” of 2013. Although both are famously hot and possess musical talents that make girls swoon, that could be where the comparison ends.
Mick Jagger, born Michael Philip Jagger on July 26th, 1943 in Dartford, Kent, England, has fathered 7 children from 2 marriages, and 4 ladies. Many of his songs are attributed to the women in his life. Mick has been quite the lady’s man throughout his career. He has also been Knighted by Prince Charles in 2003, and elected to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of the Rolling Stones in 1989. He has appeared on the cover of Rolling Stones Magazine 20 times from 1968 to 2005. Not only is Mick sexy, he’s smart too. In his younger years, he attended the London School of Economics. But alas, these respectable achievements will forever be overshadowed by Mick’s reputation as a womanizer. He has the moves that exude sexiness. In fact, his famous moves are said to be an expression of sex. He states, “All dancing is a replacement for sex.” That’s probably why so many people crave moves like Jagger.
Although there are some similarities, Harry and Mick are definitely different in many ways. Harry, having been raised by his mother and growing up with an older sister, claims to not be a womanizer. He states, “A lot of the time, the way it’s portrayed is that I only see women in a sexual way. But I grew up with just my mum and sister, so I respect women a lot.” You have to love this about him!
