The Golden Raspberry Awards Announce Worst Movies, Actors of 2013

Which films and actors got the dishonor of receiving a Razzie Award?

The Golden Raspberry Awards, known as the Razzies, is an annual awards ceremony that recognizes the worst films and performances. Founded in 1980, the Razzies proceed the Academy Awards by one day.

The night’s big winners were Will and Jaden Smith, who were awarded Worst Actor and Worst Supporting Actor, for their role in the $130 million flop After Earth. The pair was also awarded Worst Screen Combo. M. Night Shyamalan’s After Earth, which tells the story of a father and son duo stranded on an abandoned Planet Earth, was spared the Worst Picture award, however.

Movie 43, with its long list of A-listers that included Halle Berry, Richard Gere, Kate Winslet and Naomi Watts, took home the Worst Picture award, along with Worst Screenplay and Worst Director. The film was credited with 13 directors and 19 screenwriters.

Tyler Perry picked up Worst Actress for A Madea Christmas and Kim Kardashian was recognized as Worst Supporting Actress for her work in Tyler Perry’s Temptation: Confessions of a Marriage Counselor.

The Lone Ranger only snagged one prize: Worst Remake, Rip-off or Sequel, despite its terrible performance in the box office this year.

Adam Sandler’s Grown Ups 2 had led the nominations pack with eight but managed to squeak out empty-handed. Sandler had previously set a Razzie record for snagging Worst Actor and Worst Actress in 2011 for his work in Jack & Jill.
