Generosity is a common theme among Taylor Swift, Angelina Jolie, Jon Bon Jovi, Matthew McConaughey and R.J. Mitte. They give their money and time to benefit others.
They’re not just another pretty face or an amazing talent. These celebrities come together in support of various charities and causes. Celebrities such as Sandra Bullock, Will and Jada Smith, and Taylor Swift use their earnings to make a difference in the lives of others who are less fortunate. Besides being able to give monetary support, some celebrities provide a hands-on approach to their giving. Jon Bon Jovi established “Soul Kitchen” in his home state of New Jersey. This community kitchen operates on donations and it’s patrons can “pay-as-they-go” for their meals. Angelina Jolie travels the world as an United Nations Ambassador and has donated over 3 million to the United Nations Refugee Agency. Brad Pitt has also taken an active role in charitable giving. He has donated his time, talent, and money here in the United States as well as aboard. Recently, he funded a medical facility in Sudan. Matthew McConaughey has donated over a million to communities in School Los Angeles West and communities in School Central Texas. Leonardo DiCaprio established his own foundation to support environmental causes. These are just a few of many celebrities that have found a place in their hearts to give.
Relatively new celebrities are following the leads of the more established stars. For example, Ian Somerhalder of Vampire Diaries, has created his own foundation, the IS Foundation, to address environmental issues. Also, R.J. Mitte of the television series Breaking Bad has been named the 2014 “Love to the Rescue” Ambassador for Shriners Hospitals for Children. Mitte joins others celebrities in their support for Shriners Hospital. Celebrities such as Adam Levine, Alicia Keys, Rihanna, Justin Timberlake, 50 Cent, and will.i.am.
Breaking Bad actor R.J. Mitte knows, on a very personal level, how important it is to provide support to charitable causes. At the age of 3, Mitte was diagnosed with cerebral palsy, a condition that causes muscle paralysis. He was referred to the Shriners Hospital for Children in Shreveport, Louisiana. The orthopedic experts recommended a casting procedure to correct his walking. Mitte spent most of his childhood being treated by medical and therapy experts at Shriners. With their help he has overcome many physical and verbal challenges from his cerebral palsy. Mitte and his personal manager, Addison Witt, seek acting roles where his disability would educate others.
It’s amazing when people come together for the greater good. Thank you celebrities for being compassionate individuals who provide the means to help others along the way.
