Gosh darn it, people can be cruel. Especially when they are hiding behind a piece of technology... Zelda Williams has unplugged from social media after receiving horrible comments and images following the tragic death of her father, Robin Williams.

Zelda Williams, 25, is going through one of the most horrible experiences of her life right now. As you know, her father Robin Williams committed suicide on Monday. She posted the following on Tumblr to publicly address her father’s unexpected death…

Very well said. I can’t imagine what she’s going through right now. She went on to thank those sending condoleces and kind words to her and her family. Then things turned really ugly. Poor Zelda was Tweeted graphic photoshopped images of her father’s dead body by at least two Twitter users. She was also bombarded with some really ignorant comments and overall negativity on other accounts. DISGUSTING.

Zelda hasn’t completely deleted all of her social media accounts, but has removed them from her devices and doesn’t know when or if she’ll return. It’s awful that some people feel the need to abuse this young woman while she’s grieving. She’s been really mature and classy about handling the crap people are throwing her way.

In light of Robin Williams‘ death, it’s important to remember that good help is out there. If you feel you need help or know someone who is struggling, don’t hesitate to seek out support. Absolutely no one should suffer alone or feel like all hope is lost.
